Part 2 – Let’s Round Up the Back!
In the previous installment, we focused on the neck transition from the head into the body. This time we will be working on the back and how the contouring is done by stacking increases on top of each other. Like what was mentioned before, the videos will mainly highlight the important shaping moments — the fun parts of designing!
The written pattern (below!) will still guide you fully, so remember to follow along every round with the pattern and follow the videos for the shaping ideas!

Materials You’ll Need
The materials needed are listed below or if you wish to see what I start off most of my projects with, then check out this post on “My Crochet Tools and Accessories that are Super Simple to Start With”. This time I will be working with chunky weight yarn.
Yarn
Himalayan Dolphin or Dolce Yarnart or any equivalent chunky weight yarn for main piece
Grey (100g)
White (100g)
Scheepjes Catona or any equivalent fingering or sport weight yarn for accessories
Black (25g)
White (25g)
Crochet Hooks
5.0mm Streamline Wood Crochet Hooks Limited Edition Sage Ombre
You can use any brand with these 2 sizes
Rest of Supplies
Darning needle
Filling – use leftover yarn or polyester fiberfill

Terminology You’ll Need
Here I have listed the techniques needed to crochet just this first part . Each one is individually linked if you need to learn more about how to master each technique, or you could check out this post on “How to Learn Basic Crochet Stitches step by step for Absolute Beginners - 6 Easy Steps!”.
Basic Crochet Stitches
Ch = chain
St = stitch (refers to number of stitches in one round)
Inc = single crochet increase (meaning 2 single crochet in same stitch)
Sc2tog = single crochet decrease (referring to invisible decrease)
Special Crochet Stitches
3 sc in next st = 3 single crochet in same stitch

Continue working body with grey yarn.
Round 18: Sc 9, inc x 2, sc 19 — 32 sts
Round 19: Sc 10, inc x 2, sc 20 — 34 sts
Round 20: Sc 11, inc x 2, sc 13, 3 sc in next 3 sts, sc 2, 3 sc in next 3 sts — 48 sts
Round 21: Sc 12, inc x 2, sc 14, ch 3, skip next 9 sts, sc 2, ch 3, skip next 9 sts — 32 sts
Round 22: Sc 5, inc x 2, sc 6, inc x 2, sc 7, inc x 2, sc 6, sc 3 in next 3 ch, sc 2, sc 3 in next 3 ch — 44 sts
Rounds 23-25 (3 rounds): Sc 44 — 44 sts
Round 26: Sc 19, (sc 1 in FLO, ch 15, starting in 2nd ch from hook, sc 14, sc 1 in FLO in same st), sc 24 — 45 sts
Continue into rows in next round, still using grey yarn.
Round 27: Sc 19, skip next st before tail, sc 1 in BLO, skip next st after tail, sc 12 — 31 sts
