Introduction to Crocheting Heart in a Pot
In this post, we will first be starting off with the relevant supplies and techniques you would need to crochet this small heart in a mini pot. Here to make this heart, we only be using 3 yarn colours, red for heart, brown for soil and white for the pot. Then we will head into the pattern proper.
As this is a beginner friendly pattern, here you will learn how to crochet a heart shape without any special stitches, just increases and decreases in single crochet. You will be working in a continuous round as well as surface crocheting. There is some assembling right at the end as well.

Supplies and Techniques for Crocheting a Heart in a Pot
Here I have listed the techniques as well as the materials needed to crochet both the heart amigurumi on top and the soiled pot below. Terminology for Crocheting Heart Cactus
Ch = chain
St = stitch (refers to number of stitches in one round)
2sc1 = single crochet increase (meaning 2 single crochet in same stitch)
Sc2tog1 = single crochet decrease (referring to invisible decrease)
2hdc1 = half double crochet increase
Special Stitches for Crocheting Heart in a Pot
Surface sc = surface single crochet
holding working yarn behind piece, hook in front of piece, insert hook through piece, yo, pull yarn through piece, proceed to sc
Materials and Tools for Crocheting Heart Plant in a Pot
Scheepjes Catona or any equivalent fingering or sport weight yarn
Red, Brown, White (25gm each)
Darning needle
Filling – use leftover yarn or polyester fiberfill
Scissors

Now that you have gathered your supplies and had a look at the basic terminology to reading the following pattern, let us first get started!
Yarn
Scheepjes Catona or any equivalent fingering or sport weight yarn
Crochet hook
2.5-3.0mm Clover crochet hook
Stuffing
Use leftover yarn or polyester fibrefill
Darning Needles
Safety Eyes
4mm glass eyes or safety eyes
Stitch Markers
Plastic stitch markers or metal stitch markers
Crochet Mini Heart Amigurumi On Top
Use red yarn for the heart at the top, use white yarn for the flower pot, brown yarn for soil.
Only use red yarn to make the whole heart.
Round 1: Magic ring sc3 - 3st
Round 2: 2sc3 - 6st
Round 3: (Sc1, 2sc1) x 3 - 9st
Round 4: (Sc2, 2sc1) x 3 - 12st
Round 5: (Sc3, 2sc1) x 3 - 15st
Round 6: (Sc4, 2sc1) x 3 - 18st
Round 7: (Sc5, 2sc1) x 3 - 21st
Round 8: (Sc6, 2sc1) x 3 - 24st
Round 9: Skip 12st, sc1, place stitch marker here, sc11 - 12st
Round 10: (Sc2, sc2tog1) x 3 - 9st
Round 11: (Sc1, sc2tog1) x 3 - 6st
Round 12: (Sc1, sc2tog1) x 2 - 4st
Close up and end off.
Add stuffing to heart before working on the other side of heart.
Work into Round 8, surface crochet in the middle with slip knot first with opposite sides together and work in clockwise direction, place stitch marker at beginning of round,
Round 9: 2sc1, sc11 - 12st
Round 10: (Sc2, sc2tog1) x 3 - 9st
Round 11: (Sc1, sc2tog1) x 3 - 6st
Add more stuffing before sealing up the rest of heart.
Round 12: (Sc1, sc2tog1) x 2 - 4st
Close up and end off in FLO.
Sew up any gaps in the middle.
Crochet Flower pot
Start off flower pot with white yarn.
Round 1: Magic ring sc5 - 5st
Round 2: 2sc5 - 10st
Round 3: 2sc10 - 20st
Round 4: (Sc1, 2sc1) x 10 - 30st
Round 5: (Sc2, 2sc1) x 10 - 40st
Round 6: (Sc2, sc2tog1) x 10 - 30st
Round 7: (Sc1, sc2tog1) x 10 - 20st
Round 8: Sc20 - 20st
Round 9: Repeat Round 8 - 20st
Round 10: (Sc1 FLO, ch2, 3hdc1), 3hdc19 FLO - 60st
Change to brown, cut off brown yarn.
Round 11: Sc20 BLO (brown) - 20st
Round 12: Sc2tog10 (brown) - 10st
Add stuffing to pot.
Round 13: (Sc1, sc2tog1) x 3, sc1 - 7st (brown)
Close up in FLO and end off.
Assembly of Heart to Pot
Place bottom tip of heart right in the middle of the soil in the flower pot.
Then sew it down using whipstitch multiple times to secure it.
The tip might be blunted but that is ok because we want it to be secure.
