Another guest blog post with Knotions Magazine! This time I talk about what kinds of Amigurumi can be made, or at least the ones I have tried experimenting with previously!

Craft wires are useful in making amigurumi in many different ways. I have also made many archers with their bows using craft wire. This time I made it for Merida, with also some yarn involved :). So let’s see how I did it!

As you can see, the mini Elsa I came up with was small enough to dangle from a ear lobe! I also had quite a bit of trial and error experimenting with her dress too before I settled on this following version.

Making tall stitches helps to add height to your stitches, and in this particular example, I had to use tall stitches to make Belle’s dress. For her, I actually used quadruple treble crochet (qtc) or yarn over 5 times! This might sound complex but once you nail down a basic tall stitch, the rest is just about how many times you yarn over at the start.

Rhinestones are like tiny little shiny jewels… which I particularly liked to use for my Princess series! They are relatively cheap and easy to get and creates a shiny effect which crocheting a small magic ring won’t create…

Directly crocheting onto Amigurumi can sometimes create a detailing effect that can turn out interesting. The best part about this is that there is no need for sewing!

Amigurumi involves the art of using yarn to crochet or knit stuffed toys. This form of art originated from Japan, and the translation of ‘amu’ means ‘to knit’ while nuigurumi means ‘stuffed toy’.
